I’ve written about the ability to see from the perspective of another, to empathize with others. I’ve been thinking about these two words used for love in ancient Greek – agape and eros. I think perhaps that agape gets at the empathetic concept for love, whereas eros considers love from the perspective of one’s own wants and needs. Not that eros is necessarily selfish. Eros simply is the instinctive form of love, which does not think “through” the eyes of the other person. Agape would be the love that is able to consider how our actions are perceived from the other’s perspective.

Would you take a look at my LOVE RELOADED blog entry: http://tinyurl.com/cchatl
I’m trying to capture the essence of Christian love and spirituality. “Agape” This love is necessary for salvation, and with it no one can be lost.
Do you think we get too hung up and guilty about erotic love? It’s still just a part of love, isn’t it?
